Shopping for 22C fuel tank from RDS

I'm about to place an order for a gas tank for the TR. I've purchased a couple of tanks from RDS and was very satisfied w/the experience.
I called the other day and asked for a drawing to be emailed to me. I received two. One is for older, pre-AMH boats and is 22" wide.
The other is for boats built in '94 and later and is 23.5".
I was shocked at one of the prices. For the newer boats, the price is $600.00...about what I expected. The tank for the older boats is $850.00.
I don't get it! The sizes are very similar and the volume is the same for both.

BTW, I can get the same tank from Florida Marine Tanks for $550.00.
    Here're the RDS drawings;

One of my co workers parents owns RDS. I asked about the price increases a while back and he said Aluminum prices went through the roof.

I'll ask about a Donzi.net discount, see if he can work something out.

I looked at the tank specs. The main difference I see in the New Vs. Old is the Old gets a Zinc Chromate coating. The New only gets Primer.

I was all set to order a new tank for the X-18 from RDS. I'll be sure to check with FMT before I finalize my order.

I'd be glad to take it w/o any coating, since I use my own concoction.
But they wouldn't talk about it. They said I should buy the FMT tank.
    Bummer!
FMT is now in NC and not Miami, while RDS is in Perry, about 90 minutes away.

    Not enough.
The Cotton Farmer had one shipped to Chicago for $150.00.

George I believe Nate used plastic at a cheaper number, may be worth looking into.

George, what did FMT give for a delivery time versus RDS?

I bought an original size one from RDS. I don't remember what they charged. I had a lot of work done at once here in Deland at the Boat Hospital. They had another 22 they were putting new tank in also.
