    George,
It sure looks like a high gloss paint - I recently did some polish work with 3-M's new line of compounds that are numbered. The #3 produces a really nice final finish with no swirl marks - probably comparable to Finesse-it. It has a light blue tint out of the bottle. I wish I could see your boat in person. Bill

    oooohhhhh.....shiney!

I'm a fan of the 3M stuff as well. I'l have to look into the new numbered products; I do have to admit their old naming system and website can get a bit confusing to a part-timer like myself!

This particular product is a dark gray, it is for dark colors.

LOL, probably every airline that flies into DFW has flights to Orlando!

I almost, nearly, saw Itlfly and his family last week. They just couldn't quite tear themselves away from the Mouse to take the one hour drive up to Leesburg!

Yep, just when you get used to a 3-M or Dupont product, they might change either the name or composition -

    George,
I still remember using Finesse-it for the first time many years ago - great compound! They had one that was white and then it was grey - I believe they made more than one "grit". I believe the one you describe was bottled as anti-swirl at one point.

    It's here!

    The gas tank, that is!
Elaine and I went down south to the sleepy town of Bartow to pick it up from Best Fab on Thursday afternoon. They are a bunch of nice folks, easy to do business with, and very accomodating.
This is a custom tank for them as it's something they have no drawings for (I supplied the RDS drawing), and have never built another. So, it's an example of their capabilities.
Notice the baffles are visable through the top. The welds look very clean and ample. Their tanks actually come w/a two year warranty, something I've not seen w/other tank MFGRS.
I guess the tag kind of imortalizes it for me!!!
The two little tabs at the front and aft ends will be used to hang the tank for installation. I'll drill holes in each and suspend the ends of the tank w/wire. I'll cut them off flush later.
Also, they did an outstanding job w/the coal tar epoxy. It turned out much better than the material I've used in the past.
I'm pleased w/it. I also like the extra seven gallons capacity I have w/the 1" taller height of the tank.

Looks good George. I never heard of coal tar epoxy. I lightly blasted my tank from RDS and painted it with VC white epoxy bottom paint.

If the ball is in the barb, (I haven't lookd yet) then the whole fitting is coming out. I'll use hose w/1/2" male pipe threads.

I'm sure that will work fine, but coal tar epoxy is the UBER-COATING for tanks that are foamed in. It's just about the best water proofing material for metals immersed into salt water on a continuous basis.

The tank looks to be very well made. Do you mind telling what they charged with the coal tar epoxy treatment?

It was about $600.00 plus $50.00 for the coal tar, plus tax, or about $690.00.
It's the only tank company I've talked to so far that offers it.
    I've done some myself though.

That is a really nice looking tank job George. Any idea what it might cost to ship a unit like that up to The Big Apple?
