I caught this 12lb+ striped bass this past Sunday on my 1988 23' Donzi center console fishing boat, but she was full of eggs so I let it go. Fun day!

that is one pretty fish! .... our Rockfish (striped bass) season in Maryland begins next Saturday, April 18th - one of the tastiest fish by far (in my opinion)

I've never tried that combination, but I presume it is tasty.
My wife and I went out yesterday and I caught this slightly larger 14 pound striped bass which fought all the way. It took close to 10 minutes to net it, but I again let it go. I then flew my drone from the boat for the first time to get some pictures of all the birds on our local sand islands.

Dang! Are they so limited that they enforce such a low take? Here on Lake Texoma, there is a limit of 10 with 2 over 20" - might be one over 20" come to think of it. We have more fishing guides here than any other lake in Texas due to the popularity of going for stripers.

When I was a kid - it was a 12" min and no limit.
The population dropped way down as the water quality dropped due to sediment/runoff, pesticides, storms - floodwaters ect. Seaweed was wiped out, depleting oxygen in the water.
There was even a spell banning harvest of rockfish for a few years. Luckily there was a good run of bluefish (which I like too)
Big efforts to correct the ills has paid off and the bay is looking pretty good (my opinion, not what the DNR says) - fishing was excellent last year. Crabs and oysters still need time commercially, but recreational harvest ain't bad
