Thanks Lars! What a great video. Where did you dig that up? Sure takes me back. I was at that Cedar Point race. My Dad used to race, quiet successfully actually in the smaller boats class..."Wolverine". 28' Magnum and then a 28' Mirage. His buddies' family recently restored the Mirage back to original condition and have fun with it a classics gatherings...photo attached.
I love those nostalgic videos...keep 'em coming please!
Thanks! A fun video to watch.

Hello Scott & Bill. Glad You guys liked the video. It was a lucky find since it was a private upload on YouTube by a friend of legendary throttle man Errol Lanier. I really like Errol's cats he builds under his and son's brand Lanier Custom Boats and it was linked on their Facebook page. Preston Henn owned a bunch of adult movie theatres and basically raced a new Bertram 38 every year throughout the mid to late 70's. They ran #9 Streaker seen here in the 1976 season. Since Your Father was racing the Mirage 9 Meter I bet You've seen this upload by the Cortes family Scott

I had not seen that video Lars. Thank you. Doesn't seem that long ago! I'll share this with my brother...he'll get a kick out of it too.
These videos are so fun to watch! Thanks again Lars.
Great to see the golden years of offshore racing . . .
Boats break or sink in this REAL world environment
Just to finish one of these races was a big deal . . .

Betty was a close friend who I had the pleasure of racing against for many years .. She was all of 5' 6" . I wish they still had "real ocean" racing as I would be back in the sport .
I just came across this photo. Could you please tell me where it was taken? Thanks in advance. My Dad, Bill Knies navigated and raced with his good friend Pete Smith that had The Wolverine.
I think that was the Barcardi Miami race.. We won . lol lol
Ah thanks. Such a cool shot of both boats. And congrats on that win!...one of many!
