Volvo AQ Question driveshaft bearing lube?

Question for the old school Volvo guys, I am going to replace the driveshaft bearings on my 280 and everything I have ever read says to grease them. I was working on 66 18' and the previous owner ran engine oil in the driveshaft bearings and they have never to my knowledge been changed or been an issue, not bad for 50 years of hard use. I'm not sure if the older boats required different lubrication, but his oil bath system seems to be working, any thoughts? Thanks

You can get sealed bearings that are greased and don't require greasing.
A winner is just a loser that got up and did it one more time.

not really sure I have seen both an oil port and a grease fitting on the longer intermediate housings

as F'in said a sealed bearing is probably the best
