    Greg, I will do that.

That ladder pictured above looks like it might not work well for big people. Also seems that it might be hard to pull yourself onto the boat. This is mainly for guests as I'm fine climbing the drive and if I do this it has to work well.

I appreciate all responses. My thinking right now is that I just can't bring myself to installing a platform. I think at least one more season of climbing the drive is in the cards.

How does that stow and how durable is it if a heavy person puts his full weight on one side?

There is a slip pin that allows you to remove the ladder. You have the Carl Cabin so stowing it underneath would be easy. They are rated to 275lbs.

JParanee, I'm very familiar with your awesome boat and have watched all of your YouTube videos. "Ronin" is very nicely done but the swim platform isn't for everyone!

I've seen those on a number of boats around here possibly as standard equipment . I like their simplicity and functionality but I have a strong feeling that they must be installed on a transom that is fully cored , as in a transom that is 1.5"+ thick all the way across.
The amount of leverage they would generate with even a 120lb sample climbing up them would be a real stress .
Does the C22 have a solid transom across it's entire width ?

And even then , people who are not genuine 'boaters' , or very limber , are going to look for a place to grip with their hands even before they set foot on the ladder .

Keeping this functional and simple is never easy , eh ?

Although I have never opened one up I have to believe that both corner's are cored. Most every boat I have run across has that 90 joint area cored. A 5 rung unit would be a must to give you a grab point.

Greg , the boats that I've seen that have them have the traditional 1.5"+ thick transom. I know I couldn't put one on the St T coz it only has the thick transom slug in between the stringers for the out drive cutout .
I recall when I got the boat back when Moses was a corporal there was a 1/2 platform on the stbd side of the transom and there was cracking in the gelcoat from all the stress and flexing where people were simply standing on it , much less hiking themselves out of the water on it .

I remember my wonderful childhood summer afternoons often spent water skiing easily climbing up into the boat using the out drive but grabbing for the lifting ring on the back deck as soon as one foot was on the lower unit .

(And yes, I could still do it now .. )

But like I said , I'm not sure if the C22 has a transom structure that is suited for such a ladder . Still , I like its simplicity and functionality .

That's my first choice and the one I've been considering. You can get them retractable, so they are easier to store.
Transom in my boat....and Carl's would be the same, is 2"
Why is faster never fast enough.

FWIW, the TR has the thinner transom sides. While I was reinforcing the hull, I added
3 additional courses of stitchmat to the sides. I can't tell you how much stronger the
    sides are.
When I put the boat on the dollies, I pick up the transom using the 2 bolt on
brackets. The aft end of the boat must weigh close to 3000#.
I guess what I'm saying is the thin transom sides can be pretty easily reinforced and
    strengthened.
