Almost impossible to find a fully restored 16 OB Baby like yours. Where did you end up putting the new gas tank and how many gallons does it hold?
1972 16 OB - C16B-63 - "Surface Tension" Resto Project
1974 16 OB - DMR16106017-B - "The Mule"
The tank is the same size and in the same location as the original, only aluminum instead of steel. I don't remember the capacity, I'd need to look that up. The only changes from stock is a compartment under the port bench seat that houses the battery and two foam ang fiberglass boxes at the transom for structure.
----What color are the hull sides and bottom?......Bill S
The bottom from the chines down was re gel coated white, the rest of the boat is Awlgrip snow white. The boot stripe is red. The only pink on the boat is the center stripe. I built the boat for my daughter knowing some day it would be sold and the next owner may not want the pink.
Would you be willing to sell without the motor?
Yes, I would take $4000 off the price without the engine. I would encourage someone to run it with the 90 before deciding against it. The boat ran 42 mph with one person when I first ran it and anyone with the original round bottom outboard hull will tell you they "chine walk" over 40. I had some cup put into the propeller and now it is around 38 mph top speed but handles like a dream. The boat was for my 15 year old daughter at the time I built it so I wanted it to be very safe.
