14-1/4 x 28" is what I use on a head modified 454 for an 18' Donzi, Alpha drive. Gives 5,600 RPM.

I am asking because I don't know. What is the gear ratio?

I have a TRS with 1.5 ratio. Supercharged 454 at approximately 535 hp. Will turn a Hydromotive worked down (not my me) from 28 to 26.5 to 5,400 at 76.5 GPS on a Donzi 22 (Criterion).

    Same boat will turn a Rev4 25 to 5,700 at 75.5 GPS.

I'd think a 28 or 29 4 blade or 30/31 3 blade would be a good starting point if your drive is 1.5 ratio; which it probably is and you're not over-estimating the horsepower. The ratio will be stamped on the side of the upper, not on the shortie.
With about 550hp, standard length bravo, I ran a 27 4blade and 29 3 blade to about 5300. A shortie would require a bigger prop.

The Hydromotive QIVs hook up relatively well on drives near the surface. If you want to know what shortie you have, it will be stamped on the top of the front of the lower foot.

    Maybe a Hydro P5X

Anyone with a shorty ever try a Hydro P5X ?
I tried one on my 24' Super and I know a couple of guys that ran them on 24' Pantera and 24' Excal. They ran great on old school deep v with Hi propshaft...
    Thank you, Patrick

Thanks for correcting me. The stamp on the upper case will only tell him what the original setup was; not what he has now with the imco.

    i

i believe Todd S used the P5 on his 2" IMCO 22 and HP500 set up. I also believe he called it " 'el Diablo " with reference to trying to stay alive in the boat at speed.

    He might chime in...

Too funny! I was only referring to the inches of the shorty in case he didn't know - not the gear ratio. Anyway, I was not correcting you.

I'm married, so I've been conditioned to automatically assume I'm being corrected.
