It should be a standard Morse Teleflex 33C w/10-32 threaded ends and 3" travel X a particular length in feet.
So the part# would be CCX633XX where the XX is the length in feet.
The length should be marked near one or both jacket ends

Run your hand along the cable the numbers like George says are stamped in with a hot die, you may need a mirror and a flash light they seem to always be on the side you can't see.

well here is my problem, the previous owner reeplaced the cable with a much longer and thinner cable, which is why I am having so much trouble with it. now I just want to replace it with the proper part. how should I measure this? I want to make sure I order the proper length, so I wont have do this again.
So, do you think he ordered two of the port side length cables?
Some times this is nothing but trial and error.
If they are the same length, and you know the length, you can try to figure the amount of excess material to make the stbd side right.

OTOH, maybe someone w/one of these boats can read their cable lengths and post what the stbd side is.

I have a 2000 26ZX and I bet the take the same cables which I replaced 2 years ago.
I have a few different part numbers so I will give you what I have.
I show them to be Teleflex 633 Series Cables. I ordered them from Marine.com but I'm sure you can google them.
Starboard side 19' Cable
Teleflex USA 9135
Old Sku CC22319, Replaced by CC63319 $45.60 when I had ordered it.
30194703228 (I think this was the sku on the cable)
Port Side 22' Cable
Teleflex USA 9138
Old sku CC22322, Replaced by CC63322 $45.60 when I had ordered it.
301994703264 (I think this was the sku on the cable)
Hope this helps, the worse part is connecting the cables to the indicator. Watch out for the springs on the slide indicators, I lost one of the indicator
heads and had to purchase new ones.

thanks for the help. I will check the port side and if it matches what you have given me I should be in good shape.
The CCX number I posted above is the latest product they list on their site.
