    Outdrive intermittent button failure

I have a 1996 22 Classic with the OEM Mercruiser 3000 throttle assembly. The drive trim button is on the throttle (up/dwn). Currently the "down" works intermittently. It seems as though it has to be depressed a certain way for it to work.

Is there a way to take that switch apart for inspection? It feels like a loose connection.

I had a similar issue a couple of years ago. My problem ended up being a corroded connection just before the trim pump.

Take the connection apart, spray it with an electrical contact cleaner(WD 40 will work in a pinch). Keep in mind that the engine compartment is usually damp that leads to corrosion.

Its worth a try before taking the trim control apart.

    Good Luck.

I agree check connection at pump

Had the issue on a couple of boats and it's always been connections or a solenoid at the pump.
    Thank you, Patrick
