    1996 Sweet 16

I'm looking at a low hours boat for simply zipping around in. The problem is that I've had (2) previous Classics, an 18 and 22 which both had fairly stout motors in them. With the 16 only having the 4.3, am I going to be disappointed? If not, can I modify it to have thru-hull fairly easily? Will it sound weird only being a 6?

Depends on what you mean by disappointed . My '92 is a 302, but from what I've read others with the 4.3 are satisfied and that motor is apparently EZ to hop up (showing my age now).

The 6 doesn't have quite the same sound with thru hulls, but it really depends on you.

    Welcome to the board.

I usually like running around with my hair on fire, so I'm nervous about a 6 cylinder... although I fully realize it's not a blown 22. Maybe I'll wait and see if I can take it for a ride? Boat is still in the barn.

    A V-6 w/through transom exhaust sounds like a big long F**T!

    Just sayin'.........

Get an 18! You'll be grateful every time you need to service the engine.
Also, an 18 is a LOT more boat than the 2' difference in length.
