Ed might race The Emerald Islet of his ancestors?

Got a shorter version for You Ed. Ireland will be hosting the 2016 Venture Cup race and if they had more Viking blood in their veins and their isle wasn't such an islet the race would be more on par with the London-Monte Carlo race Joking aside, this should be a fantastic test for boats and crews and I certainly look forward to it. The Royal Yachting Association wasn't able to sanction the planned 2014 London-Monte Carlo Venture Cup race due to some missing permits, safety issues and so on, so only four boats went ahead and did their own thing as a rally. 2,750 miles and 16 days later the crews of all the boats made it and posed for the photo of this post. Well, a new attempt in 2016 and I bet the permits will be in order this time. The Irish people are a friendly bunch, so I believe lots of teams from other nations will show up not just for the challenge, but for the jolly camaraderie. The yearly Cowes-Torquay-Cowes race is still 'The Race', but if conditions ends up being really tough during this year's Venture Cup, then this will be a race with a promising future. Vector Martini Racing has now won the Cowes race both in 2014 & 2015 and since they're the main team promoting this Venture Cup race there will be teams that will prepare for heavy seas and hope to put the high speed Vector boat to shame in the rough.

More footage from the London-Monte Carlo rally.

The Tally-Ho team training before the rally:

The must see video of 'The Fab Four' that did the rally, without the cup, for the F of it All. Cheers to the good ol' chaps!

Transcontinental trip twice with twin outboards...

Mr J.E. Hoag pulled this trip off twice 35 years apart and one got to give him special credit for the 1925 trip with a not very speedy boat.
