sweet 16 rebuild pics?

hey guys, I'm rebuilding a 1965 formula jr and before I start splitting the hull I would like some more reference pictures. as Formula Jr restorations are like hens teeth (I've spoken with just about everyone trying to find some) I'd like to see what's out there for sweet 16 rebuild pics. what did you do for the stringers and wood?? give me a general idea of the process and materials used. i'm itching to get started

I forgot to include the pics of what i'm starting with. theres some before and after pressurewash shots... it had a pullout 454 sitting in the cockpit area filling the bilge and floor with oil.

the main thing when you separate the deck from the hull you will need a good jig for the hull and the deck to help get the shape back and also to keep it from loosing it's shape.

yes, I will be shoring up the deck and making a very similar jig to hold it in place. ALL of the coring in the boat is gone. is balsa still the core of choice or is there something better out there??

I have seen balsa core used in a few resto's if done right you will get a solid long lasting result. If you search "the Ultimate" you will see a resto on an early Benchseat Hornet this boat is fully cored both deck and hull it is the most solid Donzi I have ever seen, it will be a heavy, quiet, wave crusher . It will not need to be shored up or reinforced for BIG POWER. there are lighter materials but I think in a smaller boat some weight and a stout construction are most beneficial even with taking more power to get her going.

I was given a Formula Jr. last fall and I am mid way through restoring it. here are a few pictures.

Let me know if you need any particular angles to help with your project and I will see what I can do.

Dash as run in the 1980's



New dashboard, instruments, wiring, fuse panel, etc.



It originally came with a straight 6 but I have it running with a 1982 OMC 3.8L V6 and OMC Stern Drive that was installed in 1983. I am currently rebuilding the outdrive and it still needs the interior upholstered. Then the hull exterior will need some work.
