    RIP Walt Walters

The following was buried on page 19 of the thread titled: 'Donzi 16 Timeline - The Boats Built During 1964'. I think this sad news deserves its own, separate thread. RIP Walt.

    Sad

I had folks over at the cabin this weekend. Other than some fantastic stuff in my new mancave there is an ORIGINAL, metal embossed DONZI sign from dealerships to advertise. It's on my ceiling.

Better than that, I have a DONZI flag, courtesy of Cliff, that is also hanging from the ceiling. Signed at the boat show ( HORBA I think ) a few years ago. Walt Walters in the top right, black felt pen.

What an amazing life, so many accomplishments, truly an icon.

    God bless you Walt

Post The Scandinavian performance boat industry blessed

That Jim Wynne introduced Walt Waters to the Scandinavian performance boat industry was such a blessing. We needed all the help we could get to get our fiberglass boat production done right and by Walters helping set up Ole Botved, of Denmark, for success and others learn from him sure set the bar high. This wonderful article from Professional Boatbuilder magazine by Dan Spurr doesn't tell it all, but honorable Walt Walters story is too long to tell and We Vikings are just so lucky that in almost every harbor is there a treasured performance boat that Mr Walters once picked up a pen and started sketching. Thank You Walt Walters.

    Mark..

Yes Mark, it was fun. Doesn't make sense, he looked so alive and excited to tell his stories only a few months ago. I sent a friend over there last month to help them with some chores and he said Walt was doing good. But he was a trooper till the end. I feel for Verna. They were married forever and they lived such an active life. Such a humble guy.

RIP in Walt. I hold the day I spent on Lake George with Walt, his wife and some special friends as one of my all time boating highlights. Watching him standing beside the helm as we were under way was a picture of sheer joy.
