    Does anyone know what year the model 100 and 100B drive was introduced to the public?

    the 100 style drive was originally introduced in 1958

    with the AQ80 80hp 4 cyl production 1958-1963

    the AQ100 100 hp 4 cyl production 1961-1963

    the AQ110 110 HP 4 cyl production 1963 -1966 this motor came with the 100 drive in the very early stages 1963 then the AQ200 drive after that

    volvo penta has a very good engine database on their site they show the 110 with both the 100 and 200 drives

    all drives prior to the 200 have a visible steering yoke from the 200 on to 280 it is the helmet style

    1963, gotcha. What is the difference between the 100 and the 100 "B" drive itself?

    Not sure

    the way Volvo named their motors was by the HP AQ 80 =80 hp and the drives by their suggested maximum HP input. AQ200 = 200 hp max for the drive

    the drives were much stronger and took more HP then rated for

    they also used letters for the drive ratio but I don't think this would start until the AQ200 which was the first volvo drive to be put behind a 4 6 and 8 cyl motors

    A= 1.3
    B= 1.6
    C=1.8
    D= 2.1

    looking at the engine AQ100 and AQ110 they were rated for 5100 rpms max with the available props they may have needed to drop a gear set because they didn't have big enough props.

    the B could be for a ratio change or just a later revision by 63 the 100 drive is done then the 200 takes over and is powered by up to a 271 hp ford mill so the v8 ratio would be different from a 4 cyl then in 66 the 250 drive comes around and is powered by over 300 hp so as each drive grew and got stronger the max hp rating changed just have to remember the engine and drive could but not always had the same model name
