Interested. I still have not been out in my 1966 16 with a 350 and a pre Alpha drive.

Parnell Olson built a spectacular 1979 16 called Sweet Cheekz, that now lives in Northern lower Michigan. Just over 500 hp, also with an Alpha SS. He ran an honest 80.

62 with a stock V6 is very good. The weight balance is so much better in a 16 with a V6.

Good luck. If you build a 325 hp V6, it will be interesting to see what speed you get. I had a 430 hp 409 SBC in a 1967 16, but it had a Volvo 290 drive, which is about as hydrodynamic as a watermelon. 65.3 was the best GPS I got. I always wanted to try a Volvo E-drive on it. I suspect it would then have been a mid-70s boat.

What specs are you using to get 3-325HP out of a 4.3?
    Which heads? cam spec etc...?

    My 4.3 dyno'd at 235.7 HP @ 5,100 rpm and 273.5 Tq @ 3,500rpm.
Vortec heads, Edelbrock performer 4 bbl and matching dual plane manifold, custom grind cam (see specs), 1.6:1 roller rockers, Hi-Tek manifolds...

Was thinking about Ed’s too. That’s the unlimited class record as far as I know.

Is this the Alpha SS class with a 4.3? All good stuff—still intrigued by doing all-aluminum FWC builds of any sort.

    Didn't Ed Donnelly have a fast 16?
Oh, just saw the other posts. Yes I think Ed's was the fastest but I don't know the numbers.

I may be off a bit, but recall Ed did 100+ GPS MPH in a 16 using Gale-Banks twin turbos on a 302(?) Ford.

You are spot on. Ed D is the only one to ever touch the century mark in a 16. An amazing accomplishment and I believe it was measured on radar coming and going. More current (and slower numbers) are tracked on the 2015 thread. I doubt anyone will ever touch Ed's record or even get close.

Or be that nutz to go that fast in a 16 😁. Do you remember where he made that run?
