I have a 5.0 liter omc (1990) had to adjust the idle to about 900-1000 so it wouldn't stall out. Is this the normal range??? This is my first omc and my mercruizer seem to idle lower..... Any help would be appreciated

my ford 5.0 idles at around 600-700 rpm but I don't have any shift interrupter.
make sure the throttle cable is retracting all the way

Did you just unplug the interrupter....? It works ok with out it
no I have an older volvo classic they had no electronic shifting mechanism . I would check your cable make sure it is returning the carb to the idle position may also be time to have the carb tuned and cleaned.
My cable was like an 1/8th to long causing the idle to be too high I had to adjust the bracket a bit
