    Valued opinion needed.............

My friend wants to drive 50 hours (each way) for a Black Hawk 22 Classic. I have been trying to talk him out of it.
Low hours extra out-drive etc, etc etc.
Please yell me I don't know that these are great and a must have.
    They are expensive too.
    Thanks in advance.
    Bert

Bert, have you asked someone from the board in the sellers immediate area go take a look at it for him to at least see if the guys representations are in-line? 50 hours is a long way to be mildly disappointed.

Merc stopped building those drives for a reason!
I've known very few owners who've kept their boats for a very long time.
It's also not the Donzi model that have attained the highest speeds,
or are known for the best handling.

If it helps , I HAD a Blackhawk and it was a lot of fun. Scary ride and if things weren't perfect it would start to hop. I sold it and am perfectly happy with my 22 non Blackhawk. It's about 5-7 mph faster , the Blackhawk , throws a rooster tail (if that's your thing ) but the downside in handling trumps everything. That's just my 2 cents. Some love them

I would drive 50 hours, each way, to see The Beatles.

Bert I had one and they are a blast to drive top end . but there not real smooth at low speed. I sold it before I blew the eng or drive. they are one fast 22 and nice looking if you like the trans am look with big hawk on deck and all the gold tell him to take it for a good ride first.

From a lot of what I've heard, and some of what I've seen, I would not buy a BH Donzi hull--I'd get a standard 22C instead. The drive is interesting, however. From what I've seen and heard, the BH drive on a standard 22C hull can be great, and is a lot less of a handful to control than a BH hull.

Apologies to the die-hard BH devotees, I admit up front that my experience is limited. I do love the bird on the deck. Some awesome cross between a Trans Am and Betty Cook's KAAMA.j

May want to fly and then rent a tow vehicle back or just have it shipped.

My first Donzi was a 95 Blackhawk. Once that I learned how to drive it, I loved it. I liked that I could cruise 55mph at 3,000 rpm's.
