The soda blasing is finished. The boat was blue and yellow metalflake. I have no idea what Cigarette was thinking when they rigged and finished this in their plant.
Deck is solid but Transom and stringers need replaceing.

What are you removing with the soda blast, old paint, to get back to the gelcoat?

Yes lots of old paint. Now it's original gel coat .
Where did you have the S Blasting done?
1972 16 OB - C16B-63 - "Surface Tension" Resto Project
1974 16 OB - DMR16106017-B - "The Mule"
Theres people local who do it and will come to you.
Sunoco blue / yellow stripe / yellow interior
there were a handful of 18's done that way
supercharged 4.3 V6..........
Jim that will be a bit bright. Not sure if I could do that...haha
How does the soda the leave the gel? I had my 18c bottom blasted with glass bead - same deal - mobile guy swore by it. It did a great job on the bottom paint but now i am under the boat with 220 on my DA and the gel can best be described as "pitted". The 220 is barely cutting it...
Wish i could see the pics- im on my iphone. Grrrd
Its a lot less aggressive than media blasting. The gel coat on the 14 was pretty bad and its a little pitted. But I'm not trying to save it like removing bottom paint. The boat will be done completely with spray polyester.
Ahhh. Do you think soda would work on bottom paint or is it not aggressive enoigh?
After the 18 i have to tackle the minx... Uggghh
I would think that Soda will work as long as the person doing it is good. You can control soda easier than media.
