    Drive Damper Plate Suggestions...

So, I thought I was ready to drop in the completely rebuilt 289 in the hull. Just needed to install the flywheel and bell housing. Well, I found a possible issue. After cleaning the drive damper plate I noticed it had a crack in it next to one of the springs... Bummer...

Upon further inspection, this ting looks all bent out of shape.

In my opinion, the thing is probably toast. I know my uncle changed this part out about 8 years ago when the last one blew up. I'm thinking it may be a good idea to change it out for maybe a stronger one, if there is such an animal. My guess this 289 will be approaching 350HP with all the work I've done to it. (The next part I'm planning to smoke is my outdrive. )

Anyway, I would greatly appreciate some suggestions on damper plates and where I can buy one for a good price.
    Thanks!
    Adam

When the sky is grey, look out to sea.
When the waves are high and the light is dying,
well raise a glass and think of me...
    When I'm home again,
    boys, I'll be buying!

Yes, I was thinking maybe this one would work. http://www.ebay.com/itm/291176351690

It says it's for a GM 454 but It appears that the bolt pattern will line up and it is a 26 spline.

If this one would fit, would there be any reason I would NOT want to use it?

    Thanks!

All the small block ford plates I have seen were triangular not round wonder if the added weight would upset the balance of the motor

Sure, and I have found those. The problem is, this boat has a history with wrecking the smaller damper plates, thus the reason for wanting a beefier model. I don't think weight should be an issue as I'm sure a ford clutch would weigh more than this damper plate.
