    seals on a Volvo AQ

if the seals on the drive leg were going bad and letting water into the gear oil wouldn't gear oil leak out as well??

trying to isolate the seal that has failed if it is a lower one like the shifter seal or prop shaft seal would oil leak out ?? I thought it may be the dipstick washer but not sure now

    any leads would be helpful

    Thanks

    Matty,
If you can get a little air pressure (10PSI?) to the top fluid level inspection hole with the prop off, I would think that would at least determine if it is the prop shaft seal which is such a common problematic seal. You might have a groove in the prop shaft where the seal has ridden for many years. My two cents, Bill

My prop shaft seal let water into the drive oil, and it was leaking a little oil on the ground, running down the skeg.

My AQ280 leaks oil behind the shift inspection cover. I suspect it is the shift cable seal as I have replaced the fill, vent and drain washers. How do you change the shift cable seal From the front or the back of the drive ?
