    Solas 23 re pitch

Can a solas 23 be repitched seems like a very strong rigid prop to bend

what numbers are you turning the 23 to now?

I am not just wondering what would you do if 23 is not enough on big power engines

It takes 400 plus hp to turn a Solas 23 to the mid 5 g's with 1.6 gears.

I would get the 23 and run it then see what you have. You could always pick up the hm 1.3 lower on eBay

The Solas is a good prop right out of the box a lot of time and resources went into it so you are not going to tweak a lot more out of it
The real numbers run out to a prop that is 1-2 inches bigger than 23

Ditto to what Matty said. Unless you are talking BIG power as in over 500, run it first and see where you come out.

If you can spin it to over 5,000 and the drive is not too deep, you should be over 70.

To answer the original question, it's gonna cost ya.

I had this eBay prop reworked for my Biesemeyer,

    to this,

at a pretty reputable and well known prop shop. Cost was about 130.00 each and well worth it. When I picked them up I asked about my Solas 23 left. After they explained what they had to do plus re hubing it because of the heat and such cost was about what I paid for the prop (330.00). So like said, make sure it is what you want to do before you do it.

    Like Ghost said,

Both props are for the same boat. Got them both done at the same time.

    yes in a solas
it is hard to explain until you run one the are very efficient and grip the water well , they handle well . I don't know anyone running one on a sharp keel barrelback but they run well on other style classic hulls.

what numbers are you running now with your best prop . if your turning a 24 pitch ultra to 5400 rpm you'll lose 200-400 rpm dropping to a 23 solas

I had a 310 hp 351 with plenty of torque and it could not turn a 23 solas on 1.6 it could turn a 21 solas to 4900 rpm I could spin a 22 ultra well past 5000 rpm

you can try and find a 26 ultra but the solas will perform better
