    16 diesel

A few years ago there was a 16 for sale here in St Augustine with a 4 cylinder diesel for sale. He wanted 12K. He had it on the street and didn't advertise it. Didn't sell. Always wondered where it is now. Said it would do 40 all week end long for $10.00. It was a factory installation.

60.01 and they claim itll go 2x as far as a BBC on the same size tank. Also it can go longer between maintenance.

It would be a great tender for a mega yacht. Diesel can be hard to find on some lakes, but as a tender, you wouldnt need to worry about that.

Ill keep my gas motor. Unless.........

    Electric and LIPO batteries??????????

I'm willing to bet that diesel motor can produce much more with a ecu reprogram for more boost and if you want even more a larger turbo. just look at all the trucks that run 10's in the 1/4 mile. I think it will definately need a 1:36 gear ratio because of the lack of higher rpm though. I mean look at the pitch blade its running it says 27" did they mean 27 pitch. if so thats a lot.

Also, you can always upload the original program in case of a waranty issue or to be even safer incase of tamper evidence within the ecu you can just buy a separate ecu that is modified... I use to do it with my audi when i had todo waranty service.

the numbers they posted in the specs section don't jive

    23 pitch mirage
    4000 rpm
    1.5 gears
    60.1

at 23 pitch the prop has negative slip (grip)

and even if you add an inch of pitch for the mirage plus or cupping you have .008 slip which is super efficient

Boating Mag did an instrumented test of the 16 with the little diesel maybe 8 or 10 years ago. I've got that issue kicking around somewhere. Neat little boat, ran comparable performance numbers to the 4.3 and got ridiculous fuel economy.

I'd like to see a 25 or 26ZX with a single Duramax turned up to 500hp/1000tq. It would have to have some 5" chrome exhaust tips sticking out the transom. That would be a beast!

I always thought a Duramax in a 22 would be a riot. 800 ft pounds of torque would get you moving. Buizilla had one and thought about it for while, not sure what happened to the project. You could name is "DURADONZI".

Just my .02, which in this economy, is only worth .01, and actually is less than that since my original .02 isn't really worth .02.

Absolutely awesome. How long will a B1 XR hold up to 1300TQ?

It certainly sounds like the owner knows what the heck he is doing Duck, right? I have attached a pdf file for the archive with all the details. How many small high performance hulls have smokers? These are the only two I have ever seen so far.

Good point. It isn't horsepower that kills drives, it's torque. 1300 is a crap load. I also didn't know Merc cut a 1.26:1 gear.

And it's 1300 coming on over the course of maybe 3,000 rpm (1500-4500) and probably peaks somewhere early on and just levels out.

Very neat installation though, it looks factory. Bet it turns heads when it fires up at the swimming hole.....
