    Time saver. The ad:

    Here we have my beloved 1971 Donzi GT 21. This is almost completed project that includes just about everything but a propeller. This vessel has been in my family since the mid-80's. I have a free and clear title in hand. I ran the hell out of her for many years. About 8 years ago I decided she deserved a complete restoration with big power and Arneson surface drive. Recently my interests have changed and I am ready to part with her. We offshore fish now and don't have the will or time to complete the last bit of work she needs. Here's the facts;

    1971 Donzi GT 21
-Hull bottom reinforced internally with additional layers of fiberglass, outside stringer gussets, new bulk heads and partial new stringers, plus additional layers of glass wrapped on original stringers.
-New gel coat on hull bottom, sides and top deck. Hull painted inside with white bilge paint. All voids foam filled for added rigidity. Hull and deck were separated and both flipped upside down to complete all restoration work.
-New deck coring anywhere the original core was originally compromised.
-All work completed by a professional fiberglass technician who leads the warranty repair department for a major boat manufacturer.
-Just under $10,000 was the tab for the hull restoration. Every inch of the hull and top deck were resurfaced and or cored inside and out. There are no original surfaces left. There are no soft spots or any compromised areas. Hull and deck shine like new. Once assembly is complete, there may be a nick or small scratch here and there from rigging. Nothing really noteworthy though.

502 c.i. Chevrolet Generation VI block & steel factory GM crank & rods (All other internals are NEW)
-World Products iron Merlin marine heads (Inconel/stainless)
-Competition Cams 308 full hydraulic roller cam shaft & roller lifters
    -Comp Cams aluminum roller rockers
-Forged pistons with static compression ratio of 10:1 (compatible with 93 octane pump gas)
    -Mercruiser Thunderbolt 4 ignition system
-Forged aluminum serpentine pulley set from Mercruiser HP 500
-Stainless Marine Aluminum exhaust manifolds with water jacketed dry Stainless Marine tail pipes
-We ran ONE gallon of fuel through the engine on a test stand prior to installation in vessel. That's the only time on the motor.
-Engine is FRESH WATER COOLED with a custom hi-horsepower heat exchanger.
    -1 external power steering cooler
-1 external HP 500 engine oil cooler
    -1 external transmission cooler
    -New Merlin aluminum intake
-Holley 980 marine carburator modified and documented by Dean Nickerson Performance.
-New flywheel, harmonic balancer and circulating pump
-2 sets of aluminum valve covers. One blue Holley set and one polished set of hi-rise aluminum marine covers compatible wit the S.M. exhaust.
-Gil offshore solid plate style engine mounts

    Arneson # 6 surface drive
    -Arneson-Industries custom aluminum extension box
-Custom fiberglass wedge installed for correct drive angle/height
-External stainless steel hydraulic trim and steering cylinders
-Surface drive is geared internally, not chain driven. Prop shaft spins opposite of engine rotation.
-Re-built Borg Warner 72C hydraulic transmission. Fresh, no time on this unit. Fill with oil and go.

    Miscellaneous
-NEW factory front Donzi Marine driver and passenger bucket seats
-Rear bench seat and coaming pads included but will need some love. I planned on fabricating new seats, but...
-All original deck hardware. Most will need re-chroming. Yes, the screens for the front engine room scoops are included
-Original Bennett trim tabs and pump. Spare set of actuators.
-Original steering wheel and custom MOMO. Both with correct adapters to fit the Char-Lynn hydraulic helm.
-Original wiring harness included (you wont need it though)
-New wiring harness form Mercruiser HP 500 is in vessel
-NEW full set of Livorsi marine gauges
    -Fuel level
    -Volts
    -Oil temp
    -Water temp
    -Trim gauge
    -Water psi engine
    -Oil pressure
    -Tachometer
    -Liquid filled speedo

    What needs completion
-You will need a handful of nuts/bolts etc. and a propeller.
-This drive can use Mercury outboard surface props with an adapter or Rolla 19 spline surface propellers. Some SSM props may work if they are 19 spline.
-Deck is through bolted. Most are tightened, there's a handful that still need clenching down.
-Install rub rail which is new and included. Taco metals vinyl white rubrail with stainless insert.
-Bolt on windshield which newly coated with black Imron and has all new smoked, black/clear Plexiglass panels. (Still wrapped with paper backing)
-Connect new wiring harness to engine/gauges/lights/pumps etc.
-Bolt on and paint surface drive. (Drive is currently primered, filled and smoothed - prepped for black epoxy paint)
    -Fill transmission with fluid.
    -Fill engine with coolant.
    -Connect trim/steering cylinders
    -Install prop
    -Install seating
-There's probably a handful of things I can't think of, but that's the majority of what comes to mind.

You can call me anytime, I have tons of info. if you want more. Additionally, you can read and see pics of the entire resto process as documented on www.donzi.net under my username "Jamesbon"

Thanks guys for adding pics and details!

The only thing we want to do now is fish and dive offshore anytime winds are under 10 knots. New rig fits the bill. Sad to market the Ol'GT, but gotta move n shake...

Look up member name "RBT" and pm him. Might be his cup of tea. He does not come around often but was looking for one.

Thanks guys, will do on both recommendations.

Smoke, If I can land a pair of 4 strokes soon, would love to do the half ditch trip. That was a blast last time.

    Thumbs up

For any interested party you will not find this much love and quality in another boat, at under 30K is a gift to some very lucky person. Damn it is a bioch getting mature (OLD)!!!!!!!!!
