28ZX stereo replacement

Has any one ever replaced the cable from the head unit to the remote controller at the helm?
Our boat is a 99.
I tried to get a fish tape through the forward bilge to the port side where the head unit is but no luck .
Looks like the harness was put in before the floor.
My only idea at this point is to go all the way around the front or all the way back through engine compartment.

remove the trim from around inside the cabin door and then remove arm rests in the cabin and you can access the area behind the panels, and yes the wiring runs under floor.

Ended up running the cable around the front and back to the helm worked ok
Any body have pics of their stereo up grades.

Personally I would have ditched the wired remote and got a "remotesthatfloat" unit. Best $100 I've ever spent!
