    97.8 miles SWEDE

Hello again my American Donzi friends. I haven´t been so much on the forum since summer 2011. Then i had some problem with the Imco -3 shorty and discussed the matter with you guys.Best that year was 92.5mph. with an old Mach stern 30" .2012 was a lost summer over here rain .rain .rain only had the boat in the water 2 times and did not achive anything even though i put a 1/2 spacer on the -3 and tested a new prop . For this season i found a very fine used Imco -2 at Boostpower with the 1.25 axle.Put the boat in water 2 days prior to the Shoot out. Had some problem with fuel preassure that i have had now and then with electric pumps in the boat. The fast cure was to put a Jeep canister on top of the pump(Aeromotive A100) Iknow that the pump are not designed to suck fuel out of the tank they are designed to be feed with fuel and then pusch it to the carb. Only had time for one test before put it on the trailer for the Race . Did 93.7 at a very nice run. Then did one run at the Shoot out 97.8 miles and was very pleased with that. The run felt very good. I updated my personal best in two runs with 5.3 miles and it seems that the setup with the-2 and the current prop is a step in the right direction. Me and my son won the class ,up to 24 feet. He was so exited. Now i´m fixing the fuel issue with a low connection on the tank. I have made an onboard camera bracket so i can monitor the instruments while running. Speed ,RPM etc. The Boat will be in water soon and i will keep you informed about the development (if any). I found some inspiration again much thank´s to my son thats pushing me Regards from sweden

Damn fysis, that is fantastic! Do you think the magic 100mph is in your future? Please .... dual vests, lanyard, and a spotter boat for the triple digit attempt

    Very Nice!
Good that you're getting your son involved too. Boating is something my dad and I have always been able to bond over - whether we're working on our boats together, boating together, or just talking about boats

Thank´s for all nice words that really boosts the inspiration. First I have not strengten the boat in the bottom even though i replaced the transom for last season ,it was a bit soft around the exhaust outlets so i replaced it and build it up i 6 layers with thin plywood and fiberglas between every layer with bleeding holes Rock solid. I have the wide transom . I hade some plans then maybe to strengten the bottom in the engine bay . Made some pressure test with a floor jack from underneth and had precision instrument on the inside to see if there where any flex. I could lift the boat in several spots without the instruments reacted at al. So i decided that there was no need for any more fiberglas. My boat started out as a small block version and the hull is in great shape no cracks or anything.I did weld reinforment brackets/bars for the engine mounts. Current prop: 32" Q4X with a slight tip cut to carry the bow made by Todd Bucknell i measured the total diameter to 15.15" i tried some different props 2011. Bravos .Maximus . Q4 but the best result then was the old Mach stern( 92.5 )a round eared 30" 4 blade 14.7" RPM 6000+ so i wanted to try something in that direction but bigger with modern design and the Q4X seems after only to runs to work just fine. Of course there are more parameters that counts . First: this year using the -2 Imco .Now propshaft center exactly 5.4 under keel (had no luck with the -3 even with spacers) so there will be some more testing and evaluation very soon .The 97.8 felt good so maybe there is possible to pick up some more speed ,but as you al know every single mile is hard to get. And Greg you are right the one zero zero is such a nice combination of figures . You here from me soon

Well played fysis ...........closing in on Mr X. The numbers say it takes 10hp for each 1mph gain in speed up at this level.

Nice list, but you are missing a few.

The Flower Pot, Bald Eagle's AE, Parnell's GT21. Listing big numbers your boat runs out for all the world to see can come back and bite you.

    There is a reason. . . .

    Nice numbers! Great job!

With those speeds you might want to consider strengthening the hull in the off season though. I realize you measured the flex by lifting the boat, but that's not the same as hammering the bottom at close to 100mph. Water is Rock Hard at those speeds and can cause a ton of flex can you can't duplicate with a floor jack.

I find your results with the -3 drive interesting. I would have thought you would get better results with the -3 over the -2.

Why is faster never fast enough.

I believe Catch22 used that same prop and a -2" drive when he ran 92 (or was it 93 MPH ?)

I would agree w/Yeller about there have been a number of boats that have de-laminated in the area of the inner strakes and engine mounts.
