That is a wild looking Canard type hull. Bill

it is definitely an odd ball, this guy has been trying to sell it for a long time on 4 or 5 different NC craigslist. I dont know if the boat just isnt worth anything or no one knows what it is. I bet that thing flys with that 235 on the back, i may give him a call and go take a look at it this week, i stumbled onto it by accident looking for another old Donzi
Those older Johnson carburated 235 loopers can be a little heavy and burn a lot of gas, but they tend to last a long time. I would love to try driving a boat like that. It could be a very stable ride. Bill

That design can be made to run well, but it is a strange design. Because of the shape, with the very narrow foredeck section, that widens near the back where the wings/sponsons are, they tended to porpoise because it was difficult to get enough lift at the front of the boat.
Then when they got going fast enough to carry the bow, there was enough lift being created that it would catch under the front of the wings, leading to a blow over. So if you want something that will continually porpoise when it gets moving, and then maybe try to fly, this would be your boat.
That boat has some money in it with all the video screens and cameras added, but if I were looking for an outboard go-fast, I would stay away from that model. That’s my 2¢ anyway.
I’m sure I have posted this before, but I used to play heavily in the light-weight outboard go-fast domain. I had a 16’ Laser (Roark Summerford’s pre-LTV company) with a 200 Evinrude, , nose cone, jack plate, foot throttle, trim in the steering wheel, custom cockpit cover with a cutout for the driver, running a 31” cleaver that RADARED at 87, which was pretty fast for 1982.
The brilliance of youth, running over 80 with no life jacket.

Wow Bill! Yep, I think we all did some crazy things in our youth. Maybe Eldridge can take it out for a test ride to see how it performs.

if im in town over the weekend ill do it
They only made them a few years. They were designed to do 60 with a small 150-175hp. I don't think they were designed to do 80. At 60 I think it would be a safe fun ride. Carlson designed it so it can't be too bad. They came out in 1985 I believe. I have an article in one of my old Boating mags on it.

So to sum up the comments thus far... Unique boat, short dollars, probably a death machine with that power. Concur. It is cool though.

This one looks like the Triton power boat that were racing offshore back in the mid 80's.

I have far too many boats, just ask my Wife.
