I have seen weights of 1500lb and 2500 lb. Which is it and if there were different weights for different years, what made up the other 1000lbs
Thanks
Trevor

some of the differences : older to newer more glass in the layup , bigger motors, heavier drives, and bottom changes
some of the bottoms were known to fall out of the very early boats

besides they used approx weights in the early days probably just hulls no power then added the power to the weight later . the early boats 65 and earlier as newer stronger power became available a few years later, the layup didn't stand up to the newer power and higher stresses from speed and power( Brownie told a story about this somewhere). As the production progressed the layup got a little heavier, then in the early to mid 70's they changed the bottom added more strake.
A volvo small block complete with drive runs around 1050 lbs they list the gross weight of a spitfire at 3300lbs the motors/drives would be 2000lbs of that. is the bare 24 foot hull 1300lbs?? hard to think that would be the case probably more like 3300lbs for the bare hull and then add 2000 for around 5000lbs
my 67 16 weighed in rigged at about 2400 lbs( with some fuel) the toal rig weighed about 3500lbs on a steel tandem trailer.
you will see things like gussets on the later 70's boats and flotation foam so little things that add weight

Go to a scrap yard, spend $5 and see what the weight slip says. My tandem Alum trailer weighed 960 so I am approx. 4800 with full fuel, etc on my 22. I would think a 16 with a SBC and a single galv trailer would be about 3600 or so w/fuel.
