I have far too many boats, just ask my Wife.
If you have something of great quality, and you take care of it, it will last forever.

no...
an Alpha SS has the water nostrils in the nose and water chamber access plates on each side of the lower...
that appears to be an SS upper and a CLE lower, which in some cases worked pretty good
Notice the raised ring on the case by the prop, it is a special outboard case. That case was brought up in one of the Rootsy posts years back. I believe it may be the same dimension as the SS, need clarification by a brighter bulb than me!!!!! Jim does CLE signify an outboard case?

IMO, that would be a better set up than an Alpha SS because of the water intakes on the side a la the stock lower unit.
I cannot tell you how many times when I had an SS that I sucked weeds from a low water pick up.
I would also imagine the side water intakes would limit your up trim.

It's cool whatever it is..

A little more info on that type case, there are several variations. Turns out Rootsy was using the same basic case.
