    Donzi 16 prop

I just purchased a 1994 Sweet 16 with a Mercruiser 5.0 V8. It currently has a 19p stainless prop. Any recommendations for the best prop set up for top speed?

    if it's a 1.65 ratio drive I would use a 23, if it's a 1.50 drive I would use a 21

I have a 1.50 ratio. What type of prop is best for top end?

Hank, read post #2. Ordinarily you prop for top end(max rpm for eng.)

You should provide the current WOT RPM, that always helps. One thing all boats react differently, so several props may need to be tested.

Have not been able to test the boat yet. What is the rpm range I should be in? Sounds like several 16's with my set-up are running a 21p as recommended in post 2. What brand prop - Turbo, Mirage, Mazco, etc? Thanks for the input.

    1.5 here

Screen Shot 2012-02-23 at 3.36.27 PM.pngI have a 1994 5.0 carb alpha 1.5 drive and i am running 58 mph gps 64 best ever but subtract 4 mph for water current speed(so 60 MPH) My prop is a 21X13 7/8 laser II SS , I trim the drive up almost 50% after reaching top speed to achieve MAX speed , just listen for prop cavitation and watch RPM's , in the pic above i was not fully trimmed up

The laser 2 is a great top end prop for your power set up. I think you would gain speed at cruise if you went to a mirage plus simply because it is a larger diameter. You might lose a little top end.

Sounds like a nice boat. Good luck with it,
I tried a 23p, dropped my rpm' s and was very sluggish.
i went with a stock mirage 21p, works great .

    New to Donzi

Just purchased 1990 Sweet 16 and need some help as to what I have. What I do know is that I have 4.3l GM with an OMC outdrive. First time out was able to run about 55 mph, speedo broke and electrical system out out. Got electrical system and motor started and got back to dock so now the hard part, re-working all electrical. Can anyone provide any literature that could help?

    Can't wait for summertime.

Im running a 21 vengeance on my 16. Got 65 at 5500 rpm. Needs more pitch, any suggestions and what about diameter. Thinking 23 vengeance, thought about a mirage but question too much diameter. Been reading that the bigger the boat the more diameter.
