    Prop questions three

    Prop question 1:

I have a 25 pitch prop that came with the boat when I bought it. The previous owner had it made for the boat. It has a very slight bend and wobble in one blade. I feel a vibration that wasn't present with 23 quicksilver. They have different style hubs. QS has rubber bushing style, 25 is a solid core. I think the vib is from differing design and not the blade damage. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I'll probably drop prop off for repair but it's very minor damage.

    Prop question 2:

I used the brass flange / washer from QS prop. Is that necessary? The centre of prop is flared for shaft fit. I think this feature replaces the need for the brass piece. I installed prop with the brass piece to be on safe side. It did cause a gap between prop hub and nose cone. Use brass or no brass?

    Prop question 3:

The QS prop has a nut lock that works with the brass spline insert. The 25 doesn't use an insert so I can't lock the nut. Shaft doesn't have a hole for cotter pin. Should I drill a hole? I assume the steel won't be easy to drill through with a hand drill and good bit.

Thanks in advance for help guys. Jas

A prop shop should be able to straighten the blade. Use a Nylock nut if available.

I wouldn't drill the shaft it is tensiled ..

I would bet that slght bend in one blade is causing your prop vibration issue.

That's an easy fix at any prop shop.
