    Donzi Minx, rare opportunity???

Went and looked at a Minx, its a project boat. I would say 5 out of 10
condition, alpha drivetrain needs to be gone thru, engine hatch is missing.
Hull itself is in pretty good condition, trailer is mint.
And needs a full interior job.

Being a rare boat is it something I should jump on? It is #14.
The guy wants $3500 for it.

To answer the question of "should you jump on it" I would have to know why you are considering do so.

Do you want a Minx? Do you simply love doing restorations? Are you hoping to get it back to good running condition to sell for a profit? Are you going to sell your Ski-Sporter and want another project? What level of finish are you comfortable with, which could be anything from, "It floats and runs" to "It has to be 98% perfect before I would take it to the water."

Without seeing the Minx, I would say you should plan on spending $2,000 for a good interior, $500 to cover what "might" be wrong with the engine/outdrive, although $500 might be low. The missing hatch could be not only expensive, but a pain in the butt to come up with, unless you are f_inscreename's brother. There may or may not be fuel tank issues.

$3,500 is a good price for a decent hull and a good trailer. There are a lot of unknowns, and getting project boats to where you want them ALWAYS seem to cost about 4X what you originally plan on spending.

After reading my response, I don't know if it will be helpful or not.

I think this is probably a good decision.
