    350 mag.....

    Hey folks!

Can anyone tell me what year the 18 was available with the 350 mag? Also, were they available with both Bravo and Alpha drives?

Thanks, hope everyone is doing well!

Howard, Mike O has an 18 with a "Black" Scorpion in it with a Bravo.

PM him or maybe he will see this and give you an answer.

    Miss the 22?

Thanks, Ken. A "Scorpion" is a 377 ci, correct?

Jim, I guess I'm just asking what makes it a "mag" and are the carbed and FI engines basically the same except for fuel systems? Forged internals maybe, but what else? Newer the better? I just can't seem to find much info searching the net.

Howard, I think you are correct.

A "Black" Scorion makes a few less HP than the "Blue" one.

As for what makes it a "mag" I'd guess it's at least partly a different cam. But I don't know, and haven't pored over the lineup to know if that even makes sense.

    Hi, Mike! How are you?

I'm just pipe dreaming again, Ken. Of course I miss my 22 but if I were to actually shop for another, I think I'd like an 18 this time. Just don't know what direction, 40 some years of these boat, would I rather have a new or old one or something in between? I know where I could get a nice deal on a pretty original barrel back, but I want one to be reliable, efficient and fast.....not so much to work on. That's why I was asking about the different flavors of the factory merc packages.

the carb 350 Mag was 270hp

the injected 350 Mag was 300hp

both came with Alpha's, with the injected version having a Bravo option

    Cool Hi, Howard

    Mines a 02 6.2L mpi 377/ B1. I think it was around a 3K upgrade from a 350mpi / alpha in 02....... Not positive on the exact $.

Excellent! With a little time left this season to enjoy it, I hope.

Thanks Mike! That'd fit the bill perfectly! I'll be up when the leaves start turning to pick it up! Just kidding, of course.

Tell me, is there any difference between the way your boat is optioned and an actual "Scorpion" model?
