When the sky is grey, look out to sea.
When the waves are high and the light is dying,
well raise a glass and think of me...

Just RELAX....stop your bitching and get it done!
Do you want me to come up this week? Let me know...I have time.
I guess cutting an access hole is out of the question? It sure makes it easy for future service work. You could cover it with a flush mount cover plate or a deck access plate. Bill

You need to find a tall skinny kid with long arms.

Ya what Kirby said. Some kid on the lake, give him a free clam dinner from the shack.
finally got it with a little help from Marie, got the cable and connector in without removing the lever a PITA but removing the lever would have lead to a much bigger PITA and a how do you retrieve the lever from under the deck thread
the newer u flex cable works much better
another water test coming shortly

Where did you source your cable from? Is there a standard PN for them? Mine was binding today, but I got it loose enough to shift the boat when I got home.

You can get the cable Right from a local marine supplier. Spend the few extra bucks and buy the extreeme cable they will last a lot longer and work smoother. They are all made by Teleflex now you need threaded at both ends You just need to know the length . It is usually stamped on the cable case

I was messing with mine yesterday. Dropped the bolt and keeper which holds the lever arm to the shifter a few times. Got real good at fishing parts out with a coat hanger. I contorted myself into positions I never knew I could but it came down to two basic ones. On my stomach with the left hand reaching down the side of the hull, head jammed against the side. On my back with right arm riding on the fiberglass edge. Longer reach with the left hand method.
...and I though working on aircraft was bad!

I'm new to the Donzi world and just acquired a 79 18 2+3. I am debating on replacing the cable as well, just don't know if I can fit my 6'3"frame up in there!!
