    454 piston oil ring groove

I have a 454 that I am freshening up for my 18' Classic. I ordered some file fit piston rings and am having trouble getting the oil rings in the cylinder. It looks as if my oil ring and scrapers are too big for the piston. Rather, it look as if the oil ring groove depth is too shallow. I wonder if Summit Racing provided the incorrect oil ring for my engine. I have a 1992 Gen V, but I believe Summit shipped me the older style oil rings (deep groove) that GM outdated with the Gen V engine in 1991. Any thoughts from anyone?

Gen V 's are different. Not sure what rings you got but the last Gen V I did (over the winter) I used Hastings 2M4718 rings.
A winner is just a loser that got up and did it one more time.

I found out that the Gen V does have shallower ring grooves to reduce the oil ring weight, and hence, parasitic horsepower loss. I had to return my deep groove oil rings and get some new ones from Summit. Thanks for your help.
