1992 Sweet 16 - good boat? or pass?

Hi, I am looking for a Sweet 16 and have a line on a 1992, I hear at this time that Donzi's hand in production was a little less direct.

The boat is clean, has low hours, has a Ford 302 and OMC drive.

Will I have issues with getting parts for the OMC? it is mechanically sound, but worried about regular maintenance etc.

Some parts are getting hard to find. Most of the basic parts you will likely need are available... BUT, prices on parts are much higher than Mercruiser parts so keep that in mind. When I bought my Minx I did not want an OMC boat. now that I am looking for a sweet 16 I wouldn't pass over one with OMC power but I would only do so if the price is right.

If the price is right grab it! The OMC drive is beefier than the Alpha, the 302's have been a faithful little bugger.

if the boat is in the condition you want and at a price you can live with why not.

if the boat has a Chris Craft HIN it is probably laid up pretty well.

the big key here, are you looking to make this a fast boat or is the stock performance of mid to high 50's ok with you.

high performance ford small block marine parts are scarce and also expensive.

the drive can be upgraded to a volvo/cobra sx again more expensive than merc stuff but with that power would be a one time investment, the drive will last a long long time.

hi, I bought the boat and it is great...I am guessing the HIN is the Hull ID Number? how would I determine if another maker i.e. Chris Craft had something to do with it as youi mentioned?

what is your HIN??? the hull identification number starts with a MIC ( mfg'rs identification code) three letters assigned by the USCG this will tell you if your classic was produced at donzi in florida or by chris craft in indiana for donzi
