Does a certified mercury marine mechanic have to get recertified over time?

The ones I know are regularly sent back for updating.
My guy has been on many separate courses since he was first outboard certified.
Since then he's done Stern drive /lower unit specific , Inboard and EFI , then outboard EFI , then Verado specific just to name a few.

And he was a boss little mechanic before he even had his first certificate !

I would guess that ,amongst others , at least Phil will add his bit ..

Once a mechanic is 'Certified' they have to take a required amount of "update" courses to keep the certification. The certification lasts for 2 years.
