    Donzi Classic Instrument Panel

I'm going to pull the instrument panel off my 1969 Ski Sporter to refinish it. The prior owner had painted over it but I'd like to replate it. I have not found a good close up picture of an original to know what the original finish should look like-- anyone have any good photos or knowledge they'd like to share?

    Thanks,

    Jeff

    Nice restoreation

Very nice restoration in the photos. The panel I have is the other style where the instruments are arranged in a row either side of the tach. I'm assuming its a brushed finish as well? Also, the black edge around the panel, your touch or original?

Matty-- thats it exactly. I didn't realize there was an insert. I think mine may be missing. I'm going to have to go take a look.

Sorry - wasn't sure when they switched styles - thought it was around '69.

Here is my '67 dash w/ newer (old style) gauges.

My '66 18' had a dash plate like the one at the top of the page.

Dash panel insert for 67 classic

Does anyone have a dash panel insert they'd be willing to part with? My insert is the early style where the gauges are all in a straight row.

I may very well have one, just need to find it. Give me a over the weekend and I'll let you know. If I find it, you can have it.

I added a couple of instruments so I copied the original shape but made it bigger. Here is a link:

I kept the same bevel as on the stock plastic black piece around the edge also which, btw, is 10 degrees.

    Instrument Panel Insert

    Dunesman,

Thanks, I'll look forward to your post. The insert I'm looking for is the same as in the attachment.

Hey Jeff, the one I have is like the ones cited in the other pics. More of a trapezoid shape with no radius on top. I hope you score what you're looking for!

    Classic Instrument Panel insert

Thanks Dunesman. I guess I may have to consider fabricating one from scratch.

Here is the dash on my 66, maybe it will help to see a few panels. Gauges were replaced with "as close as possible" new except the tach which is original. I might have the tach restored, but it works fine for now. Oil is now replaced (and everything has been cleaned up, sorry it is so dirty). Mine panel was painted by my dad, and I actually like it that way for my tastes, but I may have it powder coated at some point.
