    2000 225 pro max

Has anyone had any experience with 2000 225 merc promaxes, are they duraible? How much fuel would a set of these motors consume in a general day of boating on a 24 tunnel? Any info would be great!

the 98-00's were thirsty.... real thirsty.... like 35% more thirsty than their later counterparts, but they sure made good power,,, a 225 PM is really about 245hp at the prop, it's a pretty stout little air pump, rev limite should be set to 6800

That is my concern. Thanks for the info. I have been away from the outboards for a while. From what I gather the pm is a stout motor. I run long distances some days the fuel milage is a concern when I am paying almost 6 buck for a gallon of premium. Don't really want to be spending 300 for fuel for few hour in the boat.
