'86 22c Red Deck Stripe w/ Blue Edges

I have been going through my '86 22c. Red sides, white deck with red stripe.

There is blue 1/4" stripes on each side the red stripe showing only in channel at the rear of the engine
hatch and under the front of the rub rail. It looks like Roadtrip SE also has the same edging.

How common was this ? I'm thinking of restoring it. Was there any blue striping on the sides or transom ?

My '87 MINX had a pinstripe along the side of the color stripe.

I think the pinstripe is period for those build years, mid eighties.

    pin stripes

My red and white 1976 X-18 has blue pinstripes on each side of the red stripe on top. I resored them. Wanted to keep original.

Nice thing about the pins is that they are most likely paint and you can remove them without bothering the gel. If you don't like the look without the stripes, you can put them back at anytime.

My 94 has black pins outlining the deck stripe and on top of the white on the side stripes but not on the bottom of the same white stripe.

Yea, these are paint. A very dark blue. No evidence of any on the sides.

Thanks guys. I think I am going to restore them on the deck.

    pin stripes

My '97 also has pin stripes on the deck stripe and on one side of the boot stripe. I believe the pin stripes (paint or tape) were used to hide the potentially uneven line that results from taping between different color gels in the mold.
