This boat has a deep V hull and is built to go fast!!, cut waves, and will lock in turns like it is on rails. The Hornet is powered by a 220hp Mercruiser 6cyl engine and will run over 60mph.With the through hull exhaust option the attention is sure to be on you as the Hornet screams down the river. Also available with a 5.0 v-8

Feels a good bit cheaper than 80k though.

Doesn't seem outrageous to me. If you add up all of the parts and labor, I'm sure you'd get to 15% short of 40k pretty quick. And like Ghost said...a lot better than 80k. But I digress...

It adds up real quick. I bet their margin isnt what they expected...Do you think they will venture into bigger boats?

I went through the "build a boat" section of Hornet Marine and built me a boat. When I hit "calculate" my Hornet was over $55,000, although I guess I did splurge a bit with the underwater lighting. I love their clean and kinda retro look but it would be extemely difficult to justify that size boat with no more than a 260hp for that amount of money...AND especially given the current economy. Not sure the current Hornet business model has a chance in todays boat market...then again, there are others who offer more models and engine options who are not currently doing well either. I guess you are damned if you do and damned if you don't.

V-8, Bravo, Trailer etc. will push the price up quite a bit for sure.

Went to their website and looked at their engine/drive combo's not exactly sure why they'd offer a Bravo behind a 5.0 and their 6 cyl. in there 17' that weighs 2,500 lb but each to their own.

Will the 220HP 6 Cylinder actually hit 60mph on GPS?

I "built" one the way I'd like it on their web site and came up just under $58,000. Not too bad really.

I didn't see an option for a Bravo drive unless it comes automatically with the V-8 but, why would we need one? Because some of us like to do crazy things to our engines!

Fully loaded was just under $62,000.

well with the economy who knows. They have put forth a great effort getting trademarked, adding dealers, dragging boats to shows. I would imagine they are nearing a benchmark of 25 hulls in about a 2 yr period. the last two I saw were nice and moved along pretty well for a 6 cyl.
