    Painting a motor

I'm going to be painting the motor I'm getting red. After degreasing, should I prime it first? Or just put color on. I'm using fire red imron on the hull and figured I would use it on the motor? Will that work or do I have to use a special hi heat paint?

I used the joe standard engine rattlecan enamel in Ford red and although it looked red on the stand, it kinda looked chevy orange in the engine compartment compared to the red surrounding it. Good idea to use the same color as the hull. Marine engines run pretty cool, temp will not be a problem. I did however paint my intake and exhause the aluminum color which made it look more high perf than just red & black. There is a Ford blue in the enamel rattlecan that pretty much matches the blue Mercruiser color. I will be using that if I paint mine....red, white, and blue...what an idea.
