I need to repair my gimbal and I want to install hydraulic steering. Together these two costs nearly as much as an ITS so I am thinking of going that route instead. I also would need a helm. I could sell the old bravo TA.
Thoughts?
Thanks

Sounds great to me. cleaner installation and it avoids having to do transom strengthening where external ram(s) would mount.
The more I think about hydraulic steering the more important I think the transom strength is vs. anything else. I am taking an educated guess that the big reason why people think single ram is not as good as dual ram is crappy installation of single ram. If the transom is properly supported where the ram mounts single ram is fine. So with all that said, with the ITS system you know you will be fine regardless.
There are a few single engine ITS boats that people talk about over on OSO.
I wonder how a 22 will respond to the 7" set-back.......

I wonder about that as well.

I don't know why I wasn't thinking about the setback. I'd guess you would need a shorty too or the drive will be too deep.
It works great on my GT21 particularily in rough water. It stays hooked up nicely.
Getting a shortie put on this weekend so I will see what that does. Very sensitive to turning with the short rams on an its but once you get used to it you will like it

Would a lower volume helm help? More turns lock to lock, less volume per turn.
ITS $6750 on the internet new. Lots.
I would need a long input shaft and the transom bearing to match as well.

I think the turning radius has to do with the steering rams being short and so close to the drive. Once you get used to it there is no issue. At this point I like it

I would need hoses and a helm.
How do ITS hold up since they are still turning the gimbal?

+1 on a lower volume helm.
