+2 What Don said,
I wish I had pic's to show the river in the Catskill - Kingston to Newburgh area is still freakin muddy and a disastrous floating debris field filled with semi submerged crap of all things imaginable big and small including a few lost boats and a dinghy or two.
A 50 mile run each way won't be fun unless you like collecting lumber and other junk?
This video was from a day after Irene hit but the river is not fun and many boaters have called it quits for the this year.

Stay safe and be alert!
Ps,
Some more boating sadness after Irene when tropical storm Lee hit with heavy rains and the mega flooding really started.
Dead floating ghost fleet.
