Speaking about 454's, I saw this the other day and am wondering what block it is?
Can anyone explain the history of this engine?
.....Just curious.

George,
this is one of the New LS based crated engines from GM. We built a 630Hp engine with one of these style blocks last year. There companies that offer their version of this block in 502 cubic inches. I think these engines rock!
Thanks Scot.
It's a very attractive package.

I saw that motor too George. Nice looking engine.
The LSX376 is supercharger friendly. I've always liked small blocks. Hmmm...I do need a new engine.
Why is faster never fast enough.
gm could have done better with this engine,,,,puke puke they used nodular iron crank (cast steel)and powder metal rods puke puke again...
Mike, you must be confusing it w/another engine as this is in the description in the URL I posted above;
"The LSX454 is filled with an all-forged, super-tough rotating assembly and features a pair of our new, deep-breathing LSX six-bolt cylinder heads. It also comes dressed with great-looking, all-new orange powder-coated valve covers with engraved "LSX4"54" logos

they may have changed the sped sheet with in the last 1/2 hour
i must have clicked the engine..
Digging a little deeper, it seems to be maybe 115# lighter than a BBC, has aluminum heads, and I suppose that stock 6.2 LS exhaust would fit.

RE: exhaust - George, are you talking street or marine? There are only a couple marine exhaust manufacturers that have built a LSx exhaust. As for street applications then yes, all the LSx exhaust applications should fit.
Thanks,
Michael
I meant marine.....
I'm curius about the application of this package.
Not that I could afford one.
Does anyone know who has built an exhaust for it?
Is the archetecture the same as the other LS engines?

I have a close friend that put two LS engines in a Pachanga repower.... there is an exhaust for it... the boat was stolen and stripped before he even splashed it the first time,, very impressive package but the peak torq range is a tad higher than an Alpha drive would like
