prop for healthy SBC Stroker, 1976 18', TRS

I finally got to splash the retooled Orange Whip, my '76 2+3.
I added Hydraulic Steering and rebuilt the motor. It was a 350 but is now a .040 over stroker motor. It's VERY healthy.
Right now I have a hydramotive 4 blade intimidator in a 24 pitch. Before with my lightly massaged 350, it would spin up to 5200 and then I'd trim another 200 rpm out of her. I'd be going about 63 or so with that setup.
Now when I punch it at 3,000 RPM, she gets up and GOES and wants to scream well past 6,000. I'd like to have her around 5,500. What do you guys think?
    Should I go with another hydramotive but in a 26, 27, 28?

something seems a little off. a 23" quad-4 was no were close to 5k @ 60mph and 1.5:1 for me.

a buddy of mine tried it on his 19' with a 300 tempest built/stroked by Jim Oddy that ran 75 with a 23 turbo and couldnt spin it.

You're probably right. I'm going off old numbers before I rebuilt my engine and the trans, etc. I was probably getting a lot of clutch slippage before. I wasn't using a gps yesterday, just seat of the pants and I know I need to reprop because of how high my rpm is going.

OK, I'm not posting here again before fact checking.
    I don't have a 24. I probably NEED a 24. Right now I have hydromotive quad 4 that is a 20" pitch changed from 19" DOH!
I'm talking to B Blades who does a prop rental deal of 45 bucks a prop for a 15 day rental. I should be able to have this part of tuning behind me in the next week or two.

    Try a Hydro OT, maybe a 25. Still a 4 blade but dia. is less than the Quad4. 14 3/4 versus 15 1/2.

Have a healthy 385 on my 18 and will turn 6k with the OT 25. The OT is well mannered at all speeds and virtually no torq. steer. I have tried at least 15 props, 3 and 4 blades and finally settled on the OT. May work for you. Best of luck.

Went out with the 23" quad four from G Bond and ran 71.5 on a gps at 5100 with a full tank and two big boys. I want to play with some props but this is a good benchmark.
