What would cause an excessive amount of oil to come out of the valve cover vents into the carb? gen IV 454

    Hey Bill, how are you?
Both engines were recently rebuilt, one has 60 hours on it and the other has 20 hours on it, shouldn't the rings completely seated by now?

Doing well here. I would think so unless you used synthetic oil during the break-in period. Maybe someone else has some thoughts.

Excessive oil level above the full mark can also cause this condition but i'm sure donzi dude will post here to debate and contradict my opinion once again.

That was one of my thoughts, I have a Milodon 10 Qt pan with a Milodon dip stick, however it takes 12 Qts to bring it up to the full mark, 13 with the filter. I think something may be off with the dip stick.

+1 on too much oil in pan,,also if you dont have baffels in the VC's by the gutted pcv valves that would do it too..how much oil pressure?

You might try running the engine with the RPMs up a little and see if the oil is splaterring out of the valve cover holes. Sometimes the baffles don't work like they should. Just a thought. Bill
