Quicksilver 48 89802 A5 21P. (Cleaver) Anybody happen to know what the diameter of this prop is supposed to be.? I Googled the number and have found TWO different diameters attributed to this prop. 14 1/2" Dia and 14 3/4" Dia. Which one is correct...? DJ

Thanks Fixx: I've measured my current prop using a little basic geometry. I measured from ear to ear to ear ..point to point on the cleaver. All the measurements are 12 5/8 ". I laid it out on paper..the diameter works out to be 14 1/2. This prop has been reworked due to damage 3 years ago. ...a little "Curl" on the blades.

This prop doesn't seem work as good as it did before the rework. I wonder if the prop shop reduced the diameter (from 14 3/4) during the repair.

I also have a 48 89804 A5 23P which also measures 14 1/2 diameter. This prop produces a weird rooster....OFF to Port at 45 degrees..and no increase in speed.

Neither prop gives me 60 mph GPS. I'm doing about 57. I used to get 62 GPS.

Concurrently: I have a NEW 1.47 Alpha drive.. Vs the Old 1.5. Could THAT be the problem..? DJ

The guy probably cheeted when he repaired your prop..some people sware by the clever on your boat.I think that prop makes the boat pound over the waves.have you tryed a round ear prop? turbo1 would be a good starting prop or if you have a round ear prop and if i were you i would let my prop guy labb it..Its well worth the money,

I understand that determining the diameter of Your Cleaver is a PITA. One would think the Part Number would yield the answer..but it's probably been 20 years since this prop was produced and if someone altered the prop due to damage, the Part Number would NOT tell you if the diameter has been altered.

SO: If anyone has a 21 pitch Quicksilver Cleaver with the Part Number 48 89802 A5 21P ...can you go out and measure Your Prop from the TIP of each blade...to the tip of the next blade...to the nearest 1/16 inch. Three measurements. I can do the geometry (math) from there. Just want to know what's out there. Thanks guys for your input. DJ
