    Cool JEEP loves Donzi

Click on the above link to see a very cool picture.
I have been driving Jeeps for 24 years and they have been awesome tow vehicles for my Donzi's. Apparently someone at JEEP thinks so, too.

I don't use no little engine Jeep to tow my toys ~~~~

    I LIKE jeeps ~~~
    Jeeps are great too ~~~

    BUT~~~

    I use my 1991 Chevy 454 SS short bed pick-up !
It's almost as loud as my boats ~~~

    Now that's a REAL performance tow truck~~~~for a real performance Donzi !

    I don't know what sucks-up more gasoline per mile~~~

    My boats ~~~~

    OR~~~~

My Chevy 454 SS tow truck ?

But I suspect my truck does with it's 4:10 rear end gears & worked engine !

I will up-date this post with photos of my rig & boat !

Not a Jeep, but HEMI powered.

The Chrysler hitch for this is very cool. It is a vertical receiver, so when the draw bar isn't in the receiver, you would never know it had a hitch.

132,000 miles and still running great.

    Cool

    Bill,
Is your Magnum an R/T? I know the SRT8 was not rated for towing anything .
    Is it an AWD version?
As I recall, those have a factory rated 3800lb tow limit. Is that what you have?
My 22ZX and trailer easily add up to about 5500lbs together. Would your Magnum tow something that big?
I always wanted a Magnum, and some good ones are still out there, but I know the 7400lb tow rating on my JGC is ample for my 22ZX, but the Magnum my be over loaded by that.
    What do you think?

Yes, it is an R/T. A 2005 I bought brand new in August 2006 with 400 miles on it. HEMI with factory stated 340 hp (crank) and 390 lbs torque. I installed a K&N Cold air intake which comes with a dyno sheet showing +21 Rear Wheel hp.

Rear wheel drive. Living in Michigan I wish it had been AWD. I run (4) snows all winter, and it has never been a problem. I tow a 16, which I would guess is around 3,000 lbs.

3,800 lbs tow rating is correct, and is the same for the AWD.

Could it tow 5,500 lbs.? Yes, for a short distance on good roads.

But, I wouldn't do it. Unibody construction means the hitch isn't bolted to an old school type frame. I could see it pulling out from its mounting location. And, liability wise if you had an accident, I'm sure the insurance company would deny the claim because you were over the towing limit.

FWIW, I get between 23.5 - 24.5 mpg on trips with the cruise set at 73 mph when not towing. Around town, when exercising restraint, I hover around 18, but you can tank that very easily by enjoying the HEMI. I towed a 2,000 lbs. boat 1,300 miles when the car was new, and got 17.5 mpg, which included 5 people (it is NOT a comfortable 5 passenger car), and too much luggage.
