    I am a salt rat also and would not be without, overall besides the corrosion issues the engine runs a whole lot better and does not develop the sludge inside like raw cooled. A F/C engine will last longer than a raw cooled one, the run at tighter tolerances. IMO F/W setups burn less fuel and keep the engine in better overall condition.

    Thumbs up Another Plus

    Where I live winter freeze protection is an issue. I would be nice to have anti-freeze coolant in the engine and only have worry about draining the heat exchanger. It is a more complex cooling system but likely worth the effort.

    I can help......
    Here's a couple of places on my TR thread where closed cooling is discussed.
    First;
    http://www.donzi.net/forums/showthre...=50476&page=25
    Look at # 364, and continue.

    Next;
    http://www.donzi.net/forums/showthre...=50476&page=51
    Look at # 762 and the next several pages.

    I might note that these systems have gone up in price due to the price of copper.

    Exhaust without other mods makes for little to no gain, about the only thing most get is some loss of low to mid range. Yes a bit better sound but mostly getting pennies on the dollar when it comes too performance.

    In your situation it would not be a bad ides to upgrade to a to a performance system with stainless risers..with the closed cooling system you can plumb the manifolds into the closed cooling and plumb the heat exchanger into the risers..either way it will work but you still need to flush the heaat exchanger and the manifolds..if you switch to a performance style they will last alot longer then the stock ones..

    Stainless Marine is hard to beat.
    You can find bargains on eBay at times.

    Eddie marine makes nice ones and so does stainless marine..

    As long as they have a hose that connects the manifold to the riser it will work..you can run antirfreeze through the manifold's then back to the heat exchanger,then take the heat exchanger's cooling water and plumb it into the riser,this way the salt water wont hurt the manifolds..

    I had the SBC in the Minx set up as a "full" system like you described.
    The BBC in the TR will be a "half" system.
